Film Workshop Event Summer 2015
I will be teaching a Film Workshop for teens (11-17 years old) this summer from the end of July and through the month of August. The dynamic medium of film is such an incredible multidisciplinary genre in which any teen can truly express themselves. THERE IS NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY- only passion to express yourself while having tremendous fun doing it.
The workshop will be held on Mondays and Tuesday's from 9:30-12 on the following dates: July 27,28- August 3,4,10,11, 17, 18, 24, 25.
Our workshop is not tech heavy. The participants will need to have one of the following: A smart phone, a tablet or a camera, access to a pc or Mac, lap top. There is really no outside cost for equipment and DVD's since the movies we make can be downloaded to you tube.
We will be exploring topics such as light, sound, composition, inspiration, editing, acting, directing, props, location, scenes, screen writing...
Each week the participants will explore new and exciting topics. By week 3 we will be concentrating on our BIG FILM DEBUT. This film will be a 5-10 minute short that will be shown to family and friends at our Film Festival Event the final week of our workshop.
This is a very broad breakdown of the schedule for the workshop. If the needs of the children change so will the schedule, after all its all about them and what they want to learn!
Week 1-Brainstorming, planning, watching film shorts, creating 2 minute short, learning the technology and vocabulary, getting to know each other.
Week 2-Script writing. Guest speaker Rich Mead .
Week 3: The importance of actors-integrating them into the film. Master class taught by Patricia Durante-Actress. 2nd master class taught by Tommy Kollmer- Special effects (mask making.)
Week 4: Location and how to frame a scene., Using lighting (indoors and out) and how to use music and sound. Guest speaker Joseph Quiles-filmmaker, speaking on location.
Week 5: Conclude personal film making. Film screening for family and friends.
There will be many other things that the kids will experience that are not listed. We may add a few according to their desires.
