Description: The Community Center for the fine Arts, Inc., is a nonprofit organization where members of the community can experience one of the highest expressions of culture- ART. Our programs design in mind:
Our program is designed to encourage experimentation and discovery in a nurturing and supportive environment. The arts center is a place filled with possibilities, where members of the community can collaborate, explore, discover, learn and grow. The activities are designed to help the participants and their families become more aware and conscious of their potential as human beings. Each part of the program is a designed to create a positive experience on a higher expressive and expansive creative and cognitive level. The space is inviting, safe, thought provoking and nutritive.
Our focus is a process-oriented art experience. While providing instruction in the use of art materials and techniques, our instructors guide the students through the creative process to elicit each child’s individual style, needs and visual expression:
My personal research, notes and philosophy:
It is my experience as an educator for the past 14 years that young people are intensity lacking the skills that will truly maximize their experience as humans. By the time they have become young adults, it seems as though society has “mined the creativity from their mind, " just like we have done to our natural resources. They have little to no idea how incredibly magnificent they are as humans, or that the world is abundant with possibility. Potential, awareness/mindfulness, critical thinking, creativity and confidence are no longer part of their vocabulary; that is to imply that it ever was. It has been my "soul" purpose as an educator to use art as a vehicle for expression, self-discovery, awareness and critical thinking.
In addition, I have also concluded that most young people are desperate for understanding of the world they exist in and their own human potential. They want to understand the geography of their personal and global landscape, but it seems near impossible and very confusing. With the rise of technology and what we call our “evolution," there is still a dormant side of the soul, a place that can only be filled through personal reflection, awareness/consciousness, introspection, and creativity.
Furthermore, with new advances in brain science -Neural Plasticity (the ability of the brain and nervous system in ALL species to change structurally and functionally) and Neurogenesis (the ability to grow new brain neurons.) The research proves that the brain can develop new super neural highways/networks. Every moment we are choosing to sculpt our brain- by the foods we eat, thoughts we think, activities we do. By mentally attending to the present moment, totally engaged, the brain can MAP new terrain literally. On the other hand, if we are not paying attention, our brain activates other synaptic networks that can distract from its original intention. So, without focused attention new brain connections are not made and memory is not stored nor are lessons taught.
In short, utilizing theses core concepts, fostering human potential, exercising unbound and focused consciousness, practicing mindfulness, building confidence and exercising creativity that The Community Arts Center will fulfill its mission and enlarge human capacity for innovation and creativity.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Choosing our board of directors is one of the most important decisions our non profit can make. It is our commitment to our purpose that will drive our selection. Our directors are a crucial link between our organization and its supporters and benefactors ,as well as the community in which we serve at large. Our board must be dedicated, members of the community that represent our non profit’s goals and mission. Their status and integrity will be crucial to encouraging public trust in our organization, and their connections vital to attracting recognition, support and donations.
